NHN grants awarded to Fontainebleau VFD and City of Gautier
(3-08)

LUCEDALE, MS – Singing River Electric Power Association recently awarded two Neighbors Helping Neighbors Community Grants totaling nearly $5,000 to Fontainebleau Volunteer Fire Department and City of Gautier.
Fontainebleau Volunteer Fire Department used grant funds to purchase replacement “attack lines” fire hose, the first hose off a fire truck in fighting fire and the most used. The Department lost its attack lines hose in Hurricane Katrina and has been using hose donated by fellow fire departments.
Funds awarded to City of Gautier will purchase educational placards to be mounted along the City Park fishing pier/boardwalk as well as binoculars and steel canopy tents for use at ecotourism events held at the park.
“I’m happy to see these two grant recipients doing their part to meet the needs of their respective communities, whether those needs are protecting its residents from fire or providing outdoor events to promote ecotourism and community involvement,” said Singing River Electric general manager and CEO Lee Hedegaard.
