Singing River Electric and South Mississippi Electric work together to maintain a diverse generation portfolio made up of natural gas, coal, nuclear and hydroelectric power resources. This diversity of owned and purchased generation resources keeps your cost of power stable and affordable. It keeps the members from being affected by a rise in cost of one resource because the other resource economies lower the total generation costs as part of the whole.
South Mississippi Electric has over 400 trained and safety-minded employees and owns several generation resources including Plant Morrow, a coal-fired facility, Plant Watson, a natural gas facility and 10 percent of Grand Gulf Nuclear Station.
Solar is the newest addition to the generation mix for South Mississippi Electric. It is planned to be added by the end of 2015.
