Signing River Electric joined other Mississippi electric co-ops to participate in Cooperative Days of Service, held annually in conjunction with Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday and holiday.
King stated, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?” Singing River Electric employees answered the call for service by cleaning flower beds and trimming trees and bushes at Greene County High and Leakesville Elementary on January 15. Employees also served lunch and cleaned at Our Daily Bread in Pascagoula on January 17.
“Giving back to the communities where our members live is a founding cooperative principle. It’s who we are and a big part of our 81-year history,” said SRE General Manager and CEO Brian Hughey. “Joining together for Cooperative Days of Service allowed us to participate in community service across the state.”
