Singing River Electric provides multiplication template for teachers and students

With the school season just around the corner, Singing River Electric has designed a printable multiplication table that teachers and parents can use. Learning multiplication facts becomes important in the 3rd grade as students begin the Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP), which measures academic growth.

Multiplication is also important at SRE! We use it to measure the amount of electricity used at your home or school and to determine how much to bill each month. Electricity is measured in kilowatt-hours. One kilowatt-hour (1,000 watts of power) is equal to the electricity needed to keep one 100-watt light bulb burning for 10 hours. Thanks to multiplication, we know that 100 watts x 10 hours = 1,000 watts of power.

Singing River Electric has an 84-year heritage of providing safe, reliable and affordable electricity to our local communities where we call home. SRE serves more than 78,000 meters across 7,651 miles of power lines in seven counties in Mississippi (Jackson, George, Greene, Perry, Stone, Wayne and Harrison) and two counties in Alabama (Mobile and Washington). The electric distribution cooperative works with Cooperative Energy to provide its members a diverse mix of generation resources including five small-scale solar sites locally and a 540-acre solar site in Lamar County.
