Disconnects temporarily suspended

Based on guidance received from the Mississippi Public Service Commission (MSPSC) on Sunday, March 15, Singing River Electric will temporarily suspend electric service disconnections for 60 days. This was decided to protect public health concerning COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and as a coordinated effort with the Mississippi State Department of Health and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.

Please note members are still responsible for charges incurred for electric use during this time and will continue to receive a monthly bill. We encourage all members who are financially able to continue paying their bills, so they do not put themselves in a difficult situation later that causes added stress and financial strain. Members will be responsible for their bill and could be disconnected for not paying when this MSPSC order is no longer in effect. The MSPSC did state that they would reconsider this again in 30 days, and it could be expanded, changed or made no longer valid.

We are aware that electricity is a critical need. Keeping power on for Singing River Electric members helps with healthy hand washing practices and allows people to stay in their own homes, encouraging social distancing. Please continue to follow these steps for the safety of everyone.
