Restoring power after Hurricane Ida

Singing River Electric is completing power restoration following Category 4 Hurricane Ida. This intense storm made landfall in Louisiana yet caused heavy winds and rain affecting SRE’s entire service territory. Peak outages at the height of theS storm were 6,062.

Total current storm outages: 101
> 49 in Greene County
> 38 in George County
> 14 in Jackson County

Outages fluctuated throughout the day as rain and wind came through the area. The majority of outages were in Jackson County. The total number of SRE meters affected by Hurricane Ida were 10,516.

Power outages during tropical weather are most often caused by trees or limbs falling onto power lines and lightning damage to electrical equipment.
