Singing River Electric gifts books to Adrienne’s House

Through a collaboration between Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Singing River Electric received a sample of 16 children’s books. In return, SRE gifted the books to the Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence domestic violence shelter, Adrienne’s House.

Adrienne’s House provides 24-hour, 7 days per week crisis intervention services to women and children who are victims of domestic violence. “Many times, these children have to leave their homes quickly and they leave everything behind,” explained Brittany Lee, shelter manager, Adrienne’s House.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free books to children from birth to age five, no matter their family’s income. Dolly’s vision is creating a lifelong love of reading, preparing children for school, and inspiring them to dream. You can enroll in the program by visiting www.imaginationlibrary.com.

“We believe every child deserves the opportunity to succeed and we are grateful to receive and donate these books back to our community,” said Lorri Freeman, manager of public relations.
