SRE linemen respond after severe weather, help Dixie Electric after tornadoes

SRE crews worked through the night, Sunday, April 12, to restore power to nearly 3,000 meters throughout our service area. Crews continue their work today along the river in Greene County to restore power to around 70 meters that are difficult to reach due to downed trees and a broken power pole.

A crew of six SRE linemen and three trucks left this morning for Dixie Electric Power Association in Laurel to help restore power after last night’s severe weather and tornadoes. Initial estimates for Dixie Electric showed 75-100 power poles broken and 5,000 homes and businesses without power. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who received damage, lost loved ones, and are working to repair the damage.
