Singing River Electric's annual membership meeting is slated for July 23 at the Lucedale office, and this year will be a little different due to health concerns. We plan to hold the meeting outside with consideration for keeping everyone at a safe distance and contact free. More details to come.

We need your help. In order to do business at the July membership meeting, we need membership participation in this year's director elections.

Ten local Singing River Electric members currently serve on the board of directors. They include educators, business people, small business owners and other professions. These are your neighbors who help make decisions that run your electric cooperative. They represent you and our local communities. Every three years, the director position comes up for election. A call is made in the member publication, The Today in Mississippi, for director candidates, and those who submit a completed packet by the deadline and are approved by the member-led Credentials and Election Committee go on the ballot.

This year, we have three candidates running for the three district positions:

  • District 1 - James (Robert) Steele qualifying to represent SRE members in Greene, Perry and Wayne counties in Mississippi and Washington County in Alabama.
  • District 2 - Roy C. Grafe qualifying to represent SRE members in George and Stone counties in Mississippi and Mobile County in Alabama.
  • District 3 - Kristal K. Sisson qualifying to represent Jackson and Harrison counties in Mississippi.

You can participate by voting online using the SmartHub mobile app or by visiting singingriver.com. You can also complete and return the proxy/meeting notice that was mailed to you. Voting began on Tuesday, June 9, and the deadline is Tuesday, July 14. Everyone who votes online or returns their completed proxy will be entered in a drawing for one of eight $250 cash prizes or a grand prize of $500.
